Terms of Service

Last updated 2 August 2026v2026-08-02

These terms are the agreement between you and the individual who operates LifeGrid (the "Operator") covering your use of lifegrid.ca and everything served from it. By creating an account or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use LifeGrid.

LifeGrid is a personal project run by one person, offered on free infrastructure tiers, with a small optional paid plan. It is offered in good faith and maintained actively, and it is not an enterprise service with an uptime guarantee. The terms below reflect that honestly rather than promising otherwise.

1Who may use LifeGrid

You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement. You may not use LifeGrid if a previous account of yours was terminated for breaking these terms.

Accounts are currently created by invitation. Using an invitation issued to somebody else, or sharing one you were asked to keep, is a breach of these terms.

2Your account

  • You are responsible for keeping your password and any invitation or friend code you hold to yourself, and for everything done through your account.
  • Give accurate information when you register, and keep your email address current: it is the only way to recover access.
  • One account per person. Do not let another person use yours.
  • Tell the Operator promptly if you think someone else has got into your account.

3Your content

Everything you put into LifeGrid stays yours. The Operator claims no ownership of it and will not sell it, publish it, or use it to train any model.

To run the service, you grant the Operator a limited licence to store your content, to transmit it between your own devices, and to show it to the people you have shared it with. That licence exists only to operate LifeGrid and ends when you delete the content or close your account.

You are responsible for what you store and for having the right to store it. Do not upload material that infringes someone else's rights.

4Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use LifeGrid to break the law, or to store or send material that is unlawful.
  • Harass, threaten, impersonate, or abuse another person through chat, calls, screen sharing, or shared boards.
  • Upload malware, or use Send or the file features to distribute it.
  • Try to reach data that is not yours, probe or circumvent the access controls, or attack the infrastructure.
  • Automate access at a scale that degrades the service for others, or work around the plan limits.
  • Resell or rebrand LifeGrid, or run it as a service for other people.
  • Use the screen sharing or remote control features to take actions in someone else's account without their informed agreement.

If you find a security problem, please report it to the Operator before telling anyone else, and do not access other people's data while investigating. Good-faith reports are welcome and will not be treated as a breach of these terms.

5Sharing and collaboration

When you invite someone to a board, map, trip, calendar, closet, or grocery list, you are choosing to show them that content, and an editor can change and delete things in it. Choose who you invite carefully, and remove access when it is no longer needed.

Screen sharing shows the other person your live LifeGrid view. Granting remote control lets them act in your account. Actions that look destructive or that change sharing pause for your approval, but that is a safety net and not a substitute for trusting the person you handed control to.

You are responsible for the content you share and for anything you say to other users.

7Availability and changes to the service

LifeGrid is provided as it is, and may be unavailable at times: for maintenance, because an upstream provider is having problems, or because a free-tier limit was reached. Individual apps can be switched off temporarily for maintenance, which is shown in the app when it happens.

Features may be added, changed, or removed. If a change would delete content, you will be warned first and given the chance to export it.

The Operator may stop offering LifeGrid entirely. If that happens you will be given reasonable notice and a way to get your content out.

8Third-party services and content

Some features read public data from services the Operator does not control: map and place data, weather forecasts, exchange rates, encyclopedia summaries, recipe pages, and retailer product pages.

That information is provided as it is found. Prices, opening hours, forecasts, and rates can be wrong, stale, or misread, and the Operator does not warrant any of it. Check anything that matters at the source.

Price Watch reads pages you point it at. Some retailers block automated requests, and the app tells you when that has happened rather than quietly guessing. It does not attempt to circumvent those blocks.

If you enable the AI assistant with your own provider key, your use of that provider is governed by your agreement with them, and you pay them directly. AI output can be wrong. Check it before acting on it.

9LifeGrid is not professional advice

The finance features are for tracking and arithmetic. They are not financial, tax, investment, or accounting advice, they do not account for tax, and the calculators are simplified models. Talk to a qualified professional before making a financial decision.

The period tracker is for logging and awareness. Its predictions are estimates from your own logged history, they are not a medical device, they are not contraception or fertility guidance, and they must not be relied on to prevent or achieve pregnancy. Talk to a healthcare professional about anything medical.

The habit, focus, and journal features are for personal organisation and are not therapeutic or clinical tools.

10Backups are your responsibility

Reasonable care is taken to keep your data safe, but no guarantee is made that it will never be lost. Deleting your account is permanent. The recycle bin holds deleted boards, maps, trips, and notebooks for 30 days, and that is a convenience, not a backup.

If a piece of content matters to you, keep your own copy of it.

11Suspension and termination

You can stop using LifeGrid at any time and delete your account from Settings, which removes your account and the content attached to it permanently.

The Operator may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, that is being used to harm other users or the service, or where the law requires it. Where circumstances allow it, you will be warned first and given a chance to get your content out. For a serious breach, termination may be immediate.

If your account is terminated for a breach, no refund is given for the remainder of a paid period.

12No warranty

LifeGrid is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. No promise is made that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error free, or that any defect will be corrected.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the Operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost opportunities, arising from your use of or inability to use LifeGrid.

Where liability cannot be excluded, the total liability of the Operator to you for all claims is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for LifeGrid in the twelve months before the claim arose, or twenty Canadian dollars.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

14Indemnity

You agree to indemnify the Operator against claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms, from content you stored or shared through LifeGrid, or from your infringement of someone else's rights. This does not apply to anything caused by the Operator.

15Changes to these terms

These terms may change as the app develops. The date at the top of the page is updated whenever they do. For a material change you will be asked to review and accept the new version in the app; continuing to use LifeGrid after a minor change means you accept it.

If you do not accept a change, stop using LifeGrid and delete your account.

16Governing law

These terms are governed by the federal laws of Canada and the laws of the province in which the Operator is resident, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Disputes are subject to the courts of that province, and you and the Operator both agree to that.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, or of the right to bring a claim in your local courts where the law gives you that right.

17General

  • If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force and that part is applied as closely as the law allows to its original intent.
  • Not enforcing a term on one occasion does not waive it.
  • You may not transfer your rights under these terms. The Operator may transfer them if LifeGrid changes hands, with notice to you.
  • These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and the Operator about LifeGrid.
